Health
Health is a primary right that becomes vital especially in developing countries where getting treatment is difficult, due to the lack of a widespread and efficient health network. Access to hospitals and clinics is subject to the possibility of paying for visits, health treatments, possible operations: those who cannot, are left to the kindness of doctors and nurses who, after an indefinite period of time, decide to visit them. In this situation, the vast majority of the population makes do as they can.
Our response was to build the first community health clinic for the poor in the James Town neighborhood of Accra: a free health center that provides care to thousands of people, mostly poor, in the area and also organizes public prevention events for the entire community.
It also conducts periodic screenings on all students at the nearby Street Academy: street children and youth who are thus monitored during a very important period of their growth.
The living conditions in the neighborhood are extremely poor and there is a severe lack of sanitation: bathrooms are rare, there is no sewage system, people live in tin shacks, and there is no running water.
Therefore, there are numerous pathologies that are found in people, from the minority ones to the most dangerous ones for the organism: upper respiratory tract infections, allergies and allergic reactions, urinary tract infections, headaches and migraines, malaria, cholera, and skin rashes.
